Anyone can get furious … that is simple. But being furious with the correct person, in the correct intensity, in the correct moment, with the correct motive, and in the correct way… isn’t simple.

Let's become powerfully angry, instead of simply erratically angry.

I wish I could control this force inside me, wanting to get out. Wanting to escape.

i agree that some emotions should be controlled...such as anger..but, in love's case, i feel that one should let it flow and engulf the person you aim it towards. only then can one realize the true extent of this emotion.
as for fury, you can look at it in two ways: sometimes it's better to suppress it, as the consequences that appear if it is left unchecked would ultimately damage both the emitter and the recipient.
the other way is leaving it to manifest itself, as sometimes it help one vent one's frustrations and fears.
i feel that there's no one correct way of approaching the problem and that the only remedy is learning from one's mistakes...

mm... I know the feeling! But I must say, Aristotle had it right except for one thing: sometimes it it too simple to get angry with the correct person, in the correct intensity, in the correct moment, with the correct motive, and in the correct way. The problem really lyes in wether or not you want to handle the consecuences of such a confrontation. And I agree with [link] we definately are biological beings that explode in the most inoportune ways... and that is the biggest problem of all.

 Glad to read your point of view.
You see the practicality of the text is to learn to control your emotions, for having them is easy controlling them is a whole other story :)

I completely agree. Perhaps if Plato would have confered with him of this dilema and we would have recieved a suitable answer, dont you agree?

Being furious with the correct person, in the correct intensity, in the correct moment, with the correct motive, and in the correct way isn't being furious. WHen you get furious, you don't control anything :)

Yet we have to evaluate whith whom we will be furious and in what terms. You take your emotion, whichever it may be, and discern if it is worth it to express such emotion within those circumstances (correct person, intensity, moment, motive and in the correct way) and over all it is quite difficult to have all those perspectives and circumstances in mind, for it is inevitable that we will lack one of them.
In any case what I'm trying to say, or Aristotle was trying to say, is that emotions have to be educated and evaluated. So there is such a thing as fury and it may comply with certain characteristics but it cant be evisioned in the perfect whole for it isn't that simple to envelop it all within such a strict regulation, for emotions are part of the flawed sentimes of the human existance. Thus we may think we are having all of those regulations in perspective yet we truly don't, do we?
